I have a 1001 questions mate so i will fire a few at you now. Are we aloud to bring and prepare our own particles? Does every swim have a BBQ? Can we book a peg or is it a draw? How many other's are on the lake W/C 03/05/08?
Look forward to the answers mate. See ya soon Trev.

Whats the going baiting pattern? Do they like big beds of particle or boilies or is it more of a bag or stick approach?

Though we would want to see them to make sure they are prepared properly, as we would with everyone. no offence meant. A BBQ is provided to each angler. There are 5 people fishing the week mentioned. We do not pre- book swims. Take each week as it comes. most times the groups decide amicably on their choice of swims. Failing that a draw will take place. Large beds of partical go down well in deeper water and on the plateau. Around the margins and on the mussel beds I would reccomend boilies only. Try using a variety of different sizes. Hope this helps.

Im sure me and Gary will make full use of our BBQ while we are there. Shame about not being able to book the pegs, really like the look of the double along the lodge bank. The bait advice wil be put to good use mate.

Ok, so now its time to talk about features. Apart from the obvious depth ranges, are there any other prominent features in the lake? I know its an old gravel pit but are there still any bars around? Also weed, is the weed a problem? How clear is the water? What is the main colour of the bottom? told you i got lots of question Kev.

Also weed, is the weed a problem? How clear is the water? What is the main colour of the bottom? told you i got lots of question Kev. There is a large plateau which at its shallowist comes upto 9/10 feet in the summer. slopes of gently on 2 sides back down to roughly 16/17 feet. 1 side drops of quickly to various dephs back down to again16/17 feet. The last side drops down forming a gully between it and the bank. Around the margins are plenty of shelves of various shapes and sizes. There are also a number of small mussell beds to be found (Lovely jubbly). In open water you will find hard gravel patches, though there are no distint bars at present. this is something I am thinking of introducing at some stage. You will find weed around the edges, though it mostly only goes out about 3,4 feet from the bank. It is also nice soft weed which breaks easily(name of it escapes me) Look for areas that have been cleared by the fish. The water is very clear, but because of the mature trees which line the lake it is given plenty of cover around the margin areas. I use light brown rig tube and brown coated leads. Brown speckled pebble leads would also be good. (or simular) Whilst i,m here i,ll tell u about any snags. We have spent a considerable amount of time removing large trees from the far end of the lake. We have also lifted up the tree line which was touching the water around most parts of the lake. (Just like to say a quick thanks to Stevie Bryce for all his hard work with the removal of the trees, top man) There are several large telegraph type poles (wood) to be found by swim 4. Just up from the bait shop.I will say fish like to vacate this area. Apart from this there are no major snags remaining to our knowledge. Now ive said that your bound to find 1 lol. When our guests arrive we do like to walk the lake with them (should they wish that is) to piont out features as mentioned etc. Keep em coming Trev. All the best

What end do the swim numbers start. Is the swim at the end of the bait shop bank swim 1, the double along the same bank 2 & 3 and the swim by the bait shop No 4 and so on? or is it the other way round?
Ive been looking at the map of the lake on the web site but cant find the plateau, which swim is it near?
The web site also says there are 3 double swims but the map only shows 2, is there a third?

I noticed in several of the pictures of the lake there is a row boat. Is this there for use by the anglers for baiting up and feature finding?

You have it right regarding swim numbers. The map needs it a bit of fine tuning. The plateau is where the 12 ft in open water is. It doesnt really show the true size but it certainly big enough for at least to people to fish to. I can assure it was not an easy task plumbing the lake. There is only 2 double swims. When we had the website done we were going to put in a third douple up the top end but decided not to. I will get that changed on the website this weekend. The rowing boat may be used at your own risk and the life jacket must be worn. At all times please consider other anglers. If disputes occur regarding the use of the row boat then we will simple take the boat away for the rest of the week. I know it sounds harsh and so far all has been well but just like you to know the score.
